Postcards from Festival Number 6

Festival season is over – boo hoo! We can’t believe we’re already packing away our tents for another year, but what a summer it has been! We’ve loved every second of meeting our customers in muddy fields, dancing at sunset and donning as much glitter as humanly possible – it’s a hard life eh?

We rounded things off with possible our most picturesque home yet – Portmeirion’s Festival No. 6. Set amongst the beautiful welsh countryside, the sun shone bright (for the most part) and we caught some great bands including one of our absolute inspirations Grace Jones. You didn’t let us down either, picking up some great bargains and sharing a gin or two with us in our marquee.

Until next time, check out some of our festival snaps below…11987108_10207527055878882_8706415151865920732_n

Bands You Must See At Festival No.6 2015

FN6-2014-NORTH-0040

With less that a week to go until we arrive on site, we can barely contain our Festival No.6 2015 excitement! Set amongst the dreamy surrounds of Portmeirion in Wales, we’re going to be bringing some of the best and brightest of our trader roster right to you, kitting you out in all the festival and fabulous apparel you need to get your weekend going.

Of course when we’re not working, we’re also going to be joining you at some of the bands! With a line up that champions the legendary (Belle & Sebastian, Grace Jones) just as much as the new (Catfish & The Bottlemen, Shura), we’re looking forward to picking out some new tunes for the office stereo. Here are our top five picks…

Summer Camp
Favourites of Kilo Sale Manager Jenessa (who recently interviewed lead singer Elizabeth for our blogĀ here), Summer Camp will be bringing their retrophile indie-pop to the ‘i’ stage on the Sunday. We’re looking forward to them hopefully playing a few tracks from their Beyond Clueless OST, the perfect accompaniment to a documentary all about 90s teen movies.

LA Priest
The new reincarnation of Late Of The Pier’s Sam Dust, LA Priest is a glam-rock affair turned on it’s head, twisting and turning down labyrinth’s of glittery synth pop. We can’t stop playing his album ‘Inji’ while we work – perfect for a boogie!

Kate Tempest
If you fancy something a little more wordy, the urban poetry of Kate Tempest may well be up your street. Tales of millennial life mingle with hip-hop beats, bringing about more than a few relatable anecdotes. Check out her album ‘Everybody Down’ – more than deserving of it’s Mercury Music Prize nomination.

Hookworms

Hailing from our very own hometown of Leeds, Hookworms have a special place in our heart. Perfect for those who fancy their musical choices a little rockier, their fuzz and feral guitars recall the glory days of 90s grunge – just make sure you come visit our tent first to stock up on your flannel shirts!

James Bay
Fair Manager Emily will be making a beeline for James Bay on the mainstage on saturday – he’s been on her stereo for months! With a set time that should co-ordinate with the glorious Portmeirion sunset, we can’t think of much better way to unwind after a long day’s trading than a good singalong to ‘Hold Back The River’
