screen-shot-2016-09-14-at-12-41-38

Summer, you’ve been a blast – but our inner fashion geeks are beyond giddy to welcome in AW16! A time for thick tights, jewel tones and layering – and our busiest events season of the year.

For all the newbies out there, here’s what you can expect from our three brands…

Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair
The big daddy, the OG…Judy’s Vintage Fair has been going strong for nearly 11 years – once you’re inside one of our fairs, you’ll understand why! Bringing together some of the countries best and most eclectic traders, expect anything and everything from the 1920s-80s – we’re talking menswear, womenswear, accessories and homely knick knacks. Topped off with a tea party, this is your perfect weekend time travel day out – no flux capacitor needed.

Sleek mid-century styles and kitsch designs live harmoniously together in our packed halls, sold at an absolute snip of online or high street boutiques. You go-to destination to get that ‘pinnable’ look you’ve been swooning over, it’s not just furniture either – there are home pieces galore to cater for even the smallest of budgets.

The Vintage Kilo Sale

Time to pop some tags… The Vintage Kilo Sale is the UK’s original ‘by weight’ event, allowing thrifty shoppers to pick and mix stock from the 1960s-1990s – just like Woolworth’s Sweets! Charged at £15 per kilo, there is no minimum or maximum spend, with individual items weighing in as low as £1.

Tales From Festival No. 6

andrew whittonGreetings Vintage Fans! We write to you today a tired, slightly sniffling bunch (hello festival flu) but it was all worth it as we had an absolute blast at Festival No 6! Despite torrential rain, ankle deep mud and quite a few tent leakage mishaps, we had such a great time kitting out some lovely customers – and catching more than a few bands too.

As always, we couldn’t have asked for prettier surrounds than the town of Portmeirion – with pastel buildings galore, we were shouting ‘selfie wall’ faster than the onsite gin bar could serve cocktails (which is very fast, we’ll have you know). Despite the adverse weather, it seems you lot got well and truly into the spirit as we sold everything from glitter crowns to sportswear, kagoules to kimonos to an array of friendly and fun faces. Finishing on a team singalong to Noel Gallagher playing the Oasis hits, we’ll see you back next year. Just hopefully with a touch less rain…

Hello Yellow!

Spring has sprung! Well sorta – you might have to look for the daffodils underneath the frost at the moment. But nonetheless, we’re loving the promise of warmer weather and a new season of events just around the corner. In typical Judy style, there’s only one way to celebrate – hello yellow!

Across our social media, we’re embracing our favourite hue of clothing, furniture and accessories. Captured your own retro photo in the sunny shade? We’d love to see it! Tag us in #helloyellow and we’ll reshare your images to create a perky feed that’ll ward off the last of the winter blues. Check out the best of our feeds so far!

Whilst we may not look a day over eight, Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair has hit a decade old and we celebrated in true retro style last Friday night.

With an intimate party at The Hoxton Hotel and a stunning cake made by the inimitable Pear Of Peas, we boogied on down to a selection of retro hits, drank a selection of delecious cocktails and raised lots of money for our charity of choice, The Rainbow Trust. For those who haven’t donated yet, there’s still time – pop some change in our collection tins on event days or head over to our Just Giving page – every donation of £1 or more will be automatically entered into our raffle to win one of the following prizes:

Retro-inspired halloween costumes on a budget

Halloween is right round the corner! Whether you’re planning a huge party, a spooky movie marathon or a night trick-or-treating, their is one essential to be had – a great costume.

If, like us, you’ve left your outfit to the very last minute, do not despair! Skip the boring cat ears and vampire teeth and opt for one of our fun throwback looks – made up of pieces you can actually wear again!

pic4Cher and Dion from Clueless
Fashion stalwarts of the 90s, Cher and Dion are a cringe-free option for any BFF duo. The rules are fairly simple – stick to pink and yellow, accessorize with headgear and add in as much tartan as humanly possible. Altogether now: “as if?!’. 2f4d393b882b4629188b99a86bfb91a1

Wednesday Adams
All black everything – this look couldn’t be simpler! The collar is essential; if you can’t find a suitable 60s dress, simply pop a dress shirt under a jumper dress – it will keep you toasty on that trick or treat round!

Rosie The Riveter
Feel like channeling some old school feminism this Halloween without breaking too far away from a 40s/50s wardrobe? Rosie The Riveter is the look for you. The headscarf, navy blouse and high-waist jeans (Freddies of Pinewood have some great options) can all be sourced easily, and some extra party glam added with traditional mid-century make-up.Fresh-Prince-Carlton

Will and Carlton from The Fresh Prince of Bell Air
Want to make use of a technicolour wardrobe? The Fresh Prince is the perfect opportunity to sport those neons. Whether you’re a Will or a Carlton, this look is super 90s and can be catered for easily with a quick rummage round our kilo sale!

enhanced-buzz-32705-1379446145-11

Margo and Ritchie Tenenbaum
If you’d rather look classy than crude this Halloween, the Tenenbaum look i instantly recognisable while making good use of items you probably already have in your wardrobe (or can buy from our fair!). The devil is in the detail – the cute side parting, big sunglasses and head bandage are all simple additions to a daytime-acceptable outfit. Perfect for those in a rush to a party!
a04e94f7726aa844197ad5a5f88099c9The Twins from The Shining
It wouldn’t be Halloween without at least one really creepy option, and it doesn’t get much scarier than the twins from classic horror film The Shining. Best achieved with a similar-looking pal, everything much match – and you can have a lot of fun getting the fake blood exactly right!

Looking for the finishing touches for your costume? Why not pop down to one of our events this weekend?

31st October KILO SALE – Lincoln Engine Shed, 11am-4pm

Postcards from Festival Number 6

Festival season is over – boo hoo! We can’t believe we’re already packing away our tents for another year, but what a summer it has been! We’ve loved every second of meeting our customers in muddy fields, dancing at sunset and donning as much glitter as humanly possible – it’s a hard life eh?

We rounded things off with possible our most picturesque home yet – Portmeirion’s Festival No. 6. Set amongst the beautiful welsh countryside, the sun shone bright (for the most part) and we caught some great bands including one of our absolute inspirations Grace Jones. You didn’t let us down either, picking up some great bargains and sharing a gin or two with us in our marquee.

Until next time, check out some of our festival snaps below…11987108_10207527055878882_8706415151865920732_n
